Letter from the ESTI President
Vienna, April 02, 2020

Dear ESTI Fellows, Members, Faculty Members and Congress participants,
Dear Colleagues and Friends,

As is now apparent, the coronavirus pandemic is having a huge impact on both our personal welfare and educational activities. Statements from public health authorities worldwide are recommending that public meetings such as workshops and congresses should be cancelled.

Although the UK government has not yet called for the cancellation of major events beyond the date of March 31, we feel that it would be irresponsible towards our ESTI community and public health to proceed with the ESTI Oxford Congress at this moment in time. In addition, with travel restrictions elsewhere affecting attendance of both participants and faculty, we cannot guarantee the high scientific quality of our Annual Meeting in June.

It is with great regret and a very heavy heart that, after careful consideration, ESTI have decided to cancel the 2020 Annual Scientific Meeting as well as the 2020 Interactive Refresher Course in recognition of the growing health risks related to the coronavirus pandemic.

In these turbulent times, the ESTI Office is doing their best to respond to any query at the earliest possible time.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to all colleagues involved in and those planning to attend the ESTI 2020 Oxford congress. We hope that we can count on your commitment in the future, thank you for your understanding in these difficult times, and we wish you all the best. Please stay healthy!

Yours sincerely,
Fergus Gleeson
ESTI 2020 President
